WALES COMES TO WASHINGTON DC
Every year the Smithsonian puts on the Folk-Life Festival featured different countries and states and regions of the United States. This year Wales is the featured country. Over 100 participants from Wales will be there including the Hennessys (Frank Hennessy, Dave Burns and Iolo Jones), Sian James and her folk group Parti Cut Lloi, the champion male choir Only Men Aloud, singer Gwyneth Glyn, winning poet and singer Twm Morys, plus poets, storytellers, crafts people, food demonstrations, quilters, travel guides, slate workers, artists, etc. The festival is held 24-28 June and 1-5 July on the Washington Mall. We encourage all members of the NWAF and all who love Wales to support this event. The website is: http://www.festival.si.edu/2009/wales/preview.aspx.

Make this a Welsh year to remember. Come to the Folk-Life Festival in Washington DC, the North American Festival of Wales in Pittsburgh (www.wngga.org), Cwrs Cymraeg (www.madog.org) in Alberta, and the Fredericksburg Welsh Festival in Fredericksburg VA (www.welshfred.com).

NWAF Grant applications will be evaluated once a year with a deadline for submission of March 1 with decisions announced in May.
