NWAF PROJECT FOR THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. The NWAF is sponsoring a project to have the Congressional Medal of Honor awarded to Welsh emigrant Lt Henry (Harry) Reese, 48th Pennsylvania Infantry. As a sergeant, Harry Reese was responsible for the construction of the mine which exploded under the Confederate trenches at Petersburg, VA on 30 July 1864. He was nominated for the award, but it was never presented. We hope to have the medal presented on the 150th anniversary of the Battle of the Crater.
